Advanced Classes

Advanced classes in obedience, rally, and tricks are for dogs who have completed Canine Companion Class or equivalent. These Wednesday evening classes cater for those wishing to deepen their connection with their dog, learn new skills, and prepare for competition.

·       Beyond Basics continues from where Canine Companion Class finished, further refining obedience skills and building focus and        engagement. Tricks and rally are introduced as well.

·       Pre-Trial class is for those working toward formal competition in obedience.

·       Rally is a fast-moving sport in which dogs and handlers display teamwork as they heel around a course of signs calling for different behaviours every few meters. Rally class builds your ability to begin competition or excel as you move up the levels to increasing complex behaviours and longer courses.

·       Tricks class prepares dog-handler teams for competition in the discipline of Trick Dog, from Starters through Advanced.

When: Wednesday night

Duration: Casual attendance

Cost: Membership plus $10 per night paid on arrival

Agility

Agility is a fun sport for dogs and their human handlers. The dogs, guided their handlers, must precisely and quickly negotiate a series of obstacles including jumps, tunnels, and ramps. It is a great way to keep both dogs and handlers active and fit.

To begin agility training, your dog must:

      •  Be at least 9 months old
      •  Have completed a basic obedience course
      •  Not be overweight (or if overweight you are addressing the problem)

The Club offers a carefully structured sequence of agility classes on Tuesday evening from beginners through advanced trial level. If you are interested in beginning the sequence of agility classes or if you and your dog already have some experience in agility and want to discuss where to start, please contact the Agility Registrar Vanora Appleby vappleby1@bigpond.com

Age: 9 months and up

When: Tuesday night. New beginner agility classes begin every few months by pre-enrolment.

Cost: Membership plus set course fees for fixed-length introductory classes. Trial level classes are membership plus $10 per night paid on arrival.
