Some members participate in ANKC agility trials when they and their dog are ready. Dogs must be a minimum of 18 months old, members should discuss their readiness to compete with their instructor.

To compete in an official ANKC trial you will have to join Dogs Queensland. Dogs without ANKC pedigree papers can compete after they have been placed on the Dogs Queensland Associate Register (they must be desexed).

Trials are advertised in the monthly magazine Dog World and on the Dogs Queensland site. To enter you must use an official entry form which can be downloaded by clicking here, multiple entry form. Several clubs are now using online entrie,s generally K9 entries . The club instructors are happy to help with the process of entering a trial and will advise you what to take to a trial and what will happen at a trial. The Queensland State Agility page has a section with tips on ring etiquette.

It is a good idea to familiarise your self with the ANKC rules for  Agility and Games trials which can be downloaded by clicking on the link. Your instructor will also help by explaining these rules during training. Several instructors at the club are also accredited judges.

The aim in competitions is to complete the course set by the judge without making any mistakes and in the required time. Doing this is rewarded with a clear round certificate. Clear round certificates go towards titles. Once your dog is eligible for title you apply to Dogs Queensland and this title becomes part of your dog’s official registered name. These qualifications and titles are recognised Australia wide.

Clubs offer trials in Agility (all equipment), Jumping (no contacts or weaves)  and Games which include Snooker, Gamblers & Strategic Pairs. There are 3 levels in each, novice, excellent and masters, with dogs starting at novice and progressing through to masters. Agility and Jumping have the additional class of open which all dogs can compete in. The titles you can  gain with your dogs are:
